FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Center for Economic Growth Announces Keynote Speaker for 2017 Annual Meeting

 Fast Company editor and managing director to speak at November 2 event

ALBANY, NY – OCTOBER 9, 2017 – The Center for Economic Growth (CEG) today announces that the editor and managing director of Fast Company, Robert Safian, will speak at its 2017 annual meeting and thirtieth anniversary celebration on Thursday, November 2 at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga. The meeting will celebrate CEG’s accomplishments, while connecting those achievements to the many future opportunities for the region. 

Safian will address this year’s annual meeting theme, “A Region Connected.” Since its inception thirty years ago, CEG has been the leading force that connects likeminded businesses, public entities, educational institutions and government representatives to unify and strengthen the region. Joining Safian throughout the evening are CEG’s president and CEO, Andrew Kennedy, and Laura Schweitzer, Ph.D., chair of the CEG board and vice president for health sciences & biomedical initiatives, University at Albany.

“We have a lot of exciting triumphs to celebrate at the annual meeting and thirtieth anniversary celebration,” said Kennedy. “From the development of CEG 30 years ago to the implementation of the investor model last year, each progression in our history has further connected us in the Capital Region and beyond. We’re excited to have Robert Safian join us this year because his words, as they do for millions of Fast Company readers, will help inspire us for the next 30 years.”

Since joining Fast Company in 2007, Safian has developed a reputation for the media outlet that highlights the “new” in business, while maintaining reverence to the “tried and true.” With its fresh and honest take on the world of business, Fast Company inspires millions of workers, entrepreneurs and leaders to instigate change in their respective industries. With Safian’s leadership at Fast Company, the magazine has earned many accolades, including the highly coveted National Magazine Award for Magazine of the Year in 2014. Prior to his role at Fast Company, Safian served as an executive editor for Time and Fortune and headed Money as its chief editor for six-years.

The event program includes networking, a cocktail hour, a seated dinner and keynote presentation. Tickets are $150 for CEG investors or $175 for general admission.
