New York State High School Business Plan Competition

About: The Center for Economic Growth will be presenting the 2015 NYS High School Business Plan Competition which provides an opportunity for teams of entrepreneurial high school students to express ideas in an educationally competitive environment. To enter the competition, each student team must develop a unique, innovative business concept. Based on this concept each team will prepare a ten minute presentation geared towards motivating potential investors to fund the company and execute the students’ business concept. Coaching will be provided and judges will vote on the final presentations ultimately ending with prizes awarded to the top student teams.

The Venture Bplan Series is a collaboration of the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) and Rensselaer’s Emerging Ventures Ecosystem (EVE).

This regularly-scheduled forum at RPI’s Heffner Alumni House is designed for entrepreneurs to get visibility to the region’s angel and institutional investors, business service providers, advisors, students, faculty, alumni and the early stage business community.

AT&T Tech Valley Civic App Challenge

The AT&T Tech Valley Civic App Challenge is a two-month  “virtual hackathon” for Tech Valley software developers, coders, innovative thinkers, designers, artists, and entrepreneurs to leverage data to create intuitive and novel mobile apps that address social and civic issues in the Tech Valley region.

Demo & Awards: @The University Hall Atrium, University at Albany: *Thursday, May 14th-10 AM*

Apps submitted to the challenge will be judged on potential impact on the Tech Valley region, execution and creativity/novelty. To make the challenge truly Tech Valley-centric, teams  submitting mobile apps must include at least one member that is a current resident  of the 19 counties that make up the region (Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Orange, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Ulster, Warren, and  Washington) or attends  one of the region’s institutions of higher education.

AT&T Tech Valley Civic App Challenge Check-In & Open Day of Hacking Event

What: A “Check-in” and open day of hacking for the AT&T Tech Valley Civic App Challenge. This event is designed to provide a chance to learn more about the AT&T Tech Valley Civic App Challenge and to offer an opportunity to ask questions, pitch civic app ideas, look for a team to join, network, and seek advice on civic apps from mentors. This event is open to all interested members of the business and tech communities, area students and entrepreneurs and it also provides participants a place to openly work on their civic app for the challenge. All attendees will receive a commemorative civic app challenge items.

When: Saturday, April 18th | 11:00am – 4:00pm | Complementary catered lunch will be provided!

Bioconnex Life Sciences Commercialization Conference
