June Venture BPlan Series

The Venture Bplan Series is a collaboration of the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) and Rensselaer’s Emerging Ventures Ecosystem (EVE).

This regularly-scheduled forum at RPI’s Heffner Alumni House is designed for entrepreneurs to get visibility to the region’s angel and institutional investors, business service providers, advisors, students, faculty, alumni and the early stage business community.

This month we will be showcasing the following companies:


ToneTree creates unique computer music interfaces for desktop and mobile. Our advanced three-dimensional sensor systems have implications beyond music, but we plan to launch our company in the consumer electronic and entertainment markets, focusing on children, amateur musicians, and experienced musicians.

Somml Health

Somml Health is developing a mobile application and platform for patients, their families and advocates that provides real-time clinical information at the moment they are most focused on the patient’s health – when the patient is in the hospital.  Using this “quickening” moment, our product engages and educates the patient and their created community so that long term, the patient can achieve better health outcomes.

Rich Dewey is Executive Vice President of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO). He is responsible for the oversight of Operations, Markets and Information Technology.

In his role as Executive Vice President he is responsible for overseeing the Operations group, which monitors the New York Control Area. As leader of the Markets Group, he also facilitates the competitive wholesale electricity markets. In addition he maintains oversight of the Information Technology Group, which is responsible for delivering IT products and services that evolve market and grid operations.

Ever since it was first announced that Global Foundries was moving into the Capital District, this nanotech giant has had a profound impact on the area. Join the NY Capital District Roundtable for an interactive educational experience where members of the Global Foundries team provide insight into the organizations Logistics and Supply Chain. This not to be missed panel discussion will outline how Global Foundries developed their Supply Chain from a ‘break-ground” operation to supporting a multi-billion dollar semi-conductor manufacturing facility at the center of today’s technology industry.
