GE Aerospace spending $225M on Niskayuna R&D center
“GE Aerospace plans to spend $225 million over the next five years to expand and upgrade its research center in Niskayuna.
It’s an investment, not only in the facility and our research and development capability, but in our workforce as well,” Joseph Vinciquerra, general manager and senior executive director of research at GE Aerospace, told the Times Union in an exclusive phone interview. “GE Aerospace and the research center in Niskayuna really remain the front door to the GE Aerospace company from a technological perspective.’”
Local chef’s Shy’s Eats chicken salad available at Market 32 stores
“Longtime Albany chef Shahila “Shy” Abbasi turned chicken salad, the most popular item from her Shy’s Eats meal-prep company, into a product available at six Price Chopper/Market 32 locations. Rolled out over the summer, five types of chicken salad, as well as Shy’s Eats egg salad, are being formally announced by the supermarket chain on Monday, and Abbasi will host tastings at two stores in October.
‘Never in a million years did I, a little girl growing up in the South End of Albany and walking down the aisles of Price Chopper with my mom, ever think something I created would be on a shelf there,” Abbasi said. “You don’t dream that big.’”
RWE plans battery storage project for Rensselaer industrial site
“A global energy developer is planning a battery facility for remediated land in Rensselaer controlled by the Albany Port District Commission.
Germany’s RWE has set its sights on developing a battery energy storage system at the former BASF manufacturing facility off Riverside Avenue near the Hudson River.”
Cairo, Hunter and Windham receive $50K for wastewater planning
“Governor Kathy Hochul announced Monday that $80 million in grants have been awarded to combat extreme weather by reducing flooding, improving water quality and strengthening the resiliency of critical infrastructure statewide.
The funding includes $3.1 million in Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grants to jumpstart 63 water quality projects statewide. Locally, the towns of Cairo, Hunter and Windham are each set to receive $50,000.”
