Niskayuna couple pursues pickle passion with Kashuba’s company

“Chris Dogias has loved pickles all his life. During childhood visits to McDonald’s, Dogias was the recipient of pickles plucked from the burger ordered by his father, who didn’t share a fondness for vinegar-bathed cucumbers but never requested they be left off his Big Mac, so he could share them with little Chris.

In a fortuitous coincidence, the woman who became Dogias’ wife is even more of an aficionado of the 4,500-year-old preservation method. And so it came to be that a pair of Niskayuna pickleholics went from devoted sampling of every new brand they happened upon or hunted down to making pickles themselves.”

Abraxas at 90 State owner plans upgrades for downtown Albany building

“After converting most of a large office building in downtown Albany into apartments, the owner wants to make improvements to add a gym, coffee shop, coworking and other tenant amenities — and to fill the remainder of the commercial space.

Uri Kaufman, CEO of Harmony Group, is seeking additional tax exemptions from the Albany Industrial Development Agency to offset a planned $7.4 million investment at 90 State St.”

Regeneron plans $2B investment in Saratoga Springs

“Biotechnology firm Regeneron plans to spend $2 billion to repurpose the former Quad plant in Saratoga Springs for drug manufacturing, a project it says would create 1,000 jobs. vg

The company disclosed its plans for the 1 million-square-foot facility off Duplainville Road in an application for financial incentives from the Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency.”

Brown’s Brewing plans new decks, apartments in Troy

“The owners of Brown’s Brewing in Troy are proposing additions and renovations to its River Street brewery.

The proposed phased project includes multiple projects across Brown’s two parcels at 417 and 421-425 River St. near the Green Island Bridge. According to materials submitted to the Troy Planning Board, the plans include:”

Columbia-Greene Community College launches LPN program to meet regional workforce needs

“Columbia-Greene Community College (C-GCC) is set to launch a new Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program, with the first cohort set to begin in January 2026.

This new offering is a 15-month program, designed to address a critical workforce need across the Capital Region and Hudson Valley, while providing an affordable pathway into the healthcare profession, according to the college.”
