Sale of South Troy industrial land could open way for development

“Don Fane took a big step toward potentially buying a large swath of riverfront industrial land in South Troy that could open the door to significant redevelopment.

Fane, who heads the family-owned Troy Materials Group LLC, signed a non-binding letter-of-intent with the Troy Local Development Corp. to purchase about 26 acres between the Rensselaer County Jail and the Troy-Menands Bridge for more than $3 million.”

Conference promoting glass in computer chips coming to Albany

“A group of scientists and computer chip industry executives will be in Albany later this month to discuss the idea of using glass to make computer chips.

The event called Glass4Chips Summit is being held May 14 and 15.”

Imperial Pools plans 60,000-square-foot warehouse in Latham

“The owner of vacant land near the New York State Police Troop G headquarters in Latham wants to build a 60,000-square-foot warehouse.

The facility planned for 31 Wade Road would serve as a storage and distribution building for manufacturer Imperial Pools, according to documents filed with the town of Colonie, which indicate the project was previously proposed around 2022.”

Menlo Micro gets validation from Navy testing program

“Menlo Micro, a company that was spun out of General Electric Co. a decade ago and has operations at Albany NanoTech, has had its technology further validated by the U.S. Navy.

Menlo Micro is based in Irving, Calif., and makes tiny electronic switches used in chips that power a variety of devices.”
