Maria College buys key campus buildings in Albany for $1M

“Maria College has purchased core buildings of its Albany campus in a deal backed by an anonymous donor.

The Sisters of Mercy of Americas, the college’s longtime sponsor, sold the properties, which total more than 5 acres and nearly 75,000 square feet of space, for $1 million, according to the announcement and a recent Albany County deed filing.”

South Troy land deal could mean changes for salt pile, King Fuels site

“If plans go through to sell 26 acres of riverfront land for redevelopment in South Troy, a notorious mound of road salt could be lifted away earlier than expected.

According to a nonbinding agreement with Troy Local Development Corporation, prospective buyer Troy Materials Group, a firm run by construction industry titan Don Fane, has until Sept. 30, 2027, to close on a sale.”

MC Pools moves HQ to East Greenbush after acquisition of Done Better Pools

“A Capital Region swimming pool contractor is geared up for a busy spring and summer after purchasing a pool supplies business in East Greenbush.

Carl Nitz, who launched MC Pools several years ago, recently acquired Done Better Pools and is leasing the store’s former location at 709 Columbia Turnpike near East Greenbush Animal Hospital.”

Albany bus terminal project to be led by Wainschaf, LaBella

“A project team that includes general contractor Wainschaf Associates of Rensselaer has been selected to reconfigure the former McDonald’s restaurant in downtown Albany as an intercity bus terminal.

The board of Advance Albany County Alliance, the county-backed authority that owns the 3,200-square-foot building at 106 South Pearl St., voted Tuesday morning to select a proposal from Wainschaf, engineering firm LaBella Associates and New Jersey-based design firm Sowinski Sullivan, which specializes in mass transportation projects.”

Saratoga County Coca-Cola distribution facility set to open in 2027

“Construction on a new Coca-Cola repackaging and distribution facility is underway in Halfmoon.

The nearly 130,000-square-foot facility is being developed on a 16-acre site at 15 Liebich Lane in Halfmoon and will replace an existing distribution facility in Colonie at 38 Warehouse Row.”

Amtrak ‘making significant progress’ with Spa City station upgrades

“Passenger railroad Amtrak says “significant progress” has been made in its $12.5 million rehabilitation of the Saratoga Springs station.

The station, located west of downtown near the high school, is owned by the Capital District Transportation Authority and was last remodeled in 2004 in a $5.9 million project. CDTA also owns the Rensselaer train station, which Amtrak utilizes as its largest station in the region.“
