Practice 2 Perfect founder aims to expand health care training
“LaQuetta Alexander has big plans for her growing health care startup, Practice 2 Perfect, to address workforce gaps in phlebotomy and other certified positions.
She wants to bring the model established in Albany to Troy and Schenectady and eventually expand the business across the United States.”
Conifer Realty to build 185-unit affordable housing in Albany
“It took longer than anticipated, but a former Red Carpet Inn near the Samaritan Hospital – Albany Memorial Campus will be demolished and replaced with a 185-unit affordable housing development.
The $92 million project at 500 Northern Blvd. — to be called North Gate Landing — will receive $72 million in bonds and subsidies from New York State Homes and Community Renewal, according to an announcement by the governor’s office.”
After several slow years, computer chip sales are growing again
“After several years of sluggish business, computer chip sales have been surging globally, especially in the Americas, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association, an industry trade group based in Washington, D.C.
The SIA, which represents 99% of the U.S. chip industry and two-thirds of the industry globally, said global chip sales hit $59 billion during May, a 27% increase over the same month in 2024.”
Shaker Logistics CEO Jason Smith always knew where he wanted to go
“At 15 years old, Jason Smith and his twin brother, Jeff, started a landscaping business, which catered to properties around Lake George.
The venture proved successful enough to help put the brothers through college, though Smith said juggling the business and his coursework at SUNY Oswego wasn’t always easy.”
Hickory Hill Smokehouse plans new HQ in Delanson
“A producer of smoked and cured foods in Delanson is planning a major expansion that will provide it a new full-time retail outlet.
Hickory Hill Smokehouse has approval to building a 3,000-square-foot building on 12 acres at 3803 State Highway 30 in the town of Duanesburg.”
