“An upstate company is looking to give customers more choices for internet providers.

SLIC Fiber, a company with deep roots in the North Country, has been expanding south and is now working on projects in the Capital Region.”

Washington County land bank to restore vacant, derelict properties

“Salem Supervisor Sue Clary loves to stroll through the old Shushan Bentwood property in the village. She finds the 10 acres of grassy paths winding among the rundown industrial buildings to be peaceful.

“The idea for Lance Orcutt’s latest business arose from time abroad and at home.

After purchasing a dealer of woodworking machinery, the Gloversville native traveled to Europe for the first time in 2022 to visit the headquarters of the Weinig Group, a German equipment manufacturer.”

PVA plans Halfmoon headquarters expansion

“Automation equipment manufacturer PVA wants to expand its Halfmoon headquarters to free up space for production.

‘We just need more room,’ said Tony Hynes, the company’s founder and CEO.”

SCREEN opens first R&D center outside Japan in Albany

“A Japanese manufacturer of semiconductor equipment has established a research and development outpost at the Albany NanoTech Complex.

It’s the first R&D location outside Japan for Kyoto-based SCREEN, which previously pledged to spend $75 million over the first three years of its presence in Albany.”

Cohoes Music Hall gets $1.4M in exterior improvements

“When the scaffolding was recently erected at the Cohoes Music Hall for $1.4 million in exterior improvements, the timing was critical.

There were a variety of shows scheduled in March, including for school-aged children, and management wanted to be sure there weren’t obstructions that would interfere with access.”

France’s One Biosciences picks Albany for first U.S. lab

“A French life science company has selected Albany for its first U.S. location, where it plans to invest $18 million over the next half-decade.

Paris-based One Biosciences is establishing a laboratory within the Life Sciences Innovation Building at 150 New Scotland Ave., according to Gov. Kathy Hochul and Empire State Development.”
