UAlbany researchers building AI system to predict storm outages

“Researchers at the University at Albany are building a computer model that will predict weather-related electrical outages across North America using artificial intelligence and storm outage data from electric utilities.

The project is known as the North American Forecasting Weather, Outage, Load & Damage Initiative, and it is the latest collaboration between UAlbany and University at Connecticut through the joint Center for Weather Innovation and Smart Energy and Resilience.”

Albany County Land Bank pursues new strategy in the South End

“A newly renovated row house in Albany’s South End neighborhood could have a new owner in the next 60 to 90 days.

The buyer was randomly chosen from two qualified applications that were received by the Albany County Land Bank Corp. for the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house at 79 Elizabeth St., located between Second and Third avenues.”

Tax Policy, Chips, Jobs Fuel Optimism At Saratoga County Economic Outlook 2026

“Federal tax refunds from President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill are expected to be $150 billion higher this spring, helping all kinds of business as people purchase everything from lawn tractors to new homes.

That’s what keynote speaker Robert Doll said during a recent 2026 Economic Outlook program hosted by Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce at the Excelsior Springs Event Center with more than 100 attendees on hand.”

Albany getting federal funding for semiconductor research

“Albany is getting more than $2 million in federal funds to expand semiconductor research and upgrade Lincoln Park’s southwest gateway.

The bulk of the funds will go toward advanced cleanroom equipment for the Innovation lab at UAlbany.”
