Hot Crispy Oil buys Albany facility as it continues to grow
“Albany-based Hot Crispy Oil is heating up with the purchase of the company’s own facility.
John Trimble, founder of the chili oil brand, and a silent partner bought a building through an LLC in April for $475,000. The warehouse, at 24 Thacher St. in Albany, is just behind Nine Pin Cider Works in the Warehouse District.”
Catskill Community Theatre reopens after renovations
“The smell of fresh popcorn wafted out from the concession stand and people filled the red seats of the historic Catskill Community Theatre at the grand reopening Friday evening, more than five years after the pandemic forced the local institution to close.
The long-awaited reopening, initially set for May but pushed back due to tariffs on imported goods and repair delays, signals the return of the movies to Catskill after a $2.4 million renovation that began in 2024 and was funded in part with grants from the state’s Restore New York and Downtown Revitalization Incentive programs.”
Coca-Cola plans to move from longtime Colonie distribution center
“Coca-Cola would move more than 140 full-time jobs from Albany County to Saratoga County under a deal in which a new $48.4 million distribution facility would be built in the town of Halfmoon.
The move would result in the closure of the decades-old Coca-Cola Beverages Northeast Inc. distribution center at 38 Warehouse Row in Colonie. The company owns the building, which is 114,000 square feet, according to county records.”
First phase of Pratt Rock Park preservation completed
“A mystical connection is manifesting physically at Pratt Rock Park.??
Part one of a multi-phased preservation effort was recently completed at the park, created between 1842 and 1862 and originally planned as a final resting spot for town founder Zadock Pratt.”
Inovabed acquires Big Belly Banks
“A maker of wall beds and other furniture is manufacturing a new, somewhat unlikely product at its Guilderland facility: colorful coin banks for children.
Inovabed, led by CEO Guy Bucey, recently acquired Big Belly Banks, a mom-and-pop operation launched decades ago by John Chesnut of Elizabethtown. Terms weren’t disclosed.”
Construction on new WSWHE BOCES campus to start this fall
“A new campus for the BOCES that serves the North Country will start construction this fall in Wilton.
The New York State Education Department recent”ly approved plans for the new Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES campus.”
