Two Capital Region startups claim FuzeHub manufacturing grants

“Two startup companies with local connections were each awarded $65,000 manufacturing grants by FuzeHub.

FuzeHub is an Albany-based nonprofit that aids manufacturers across the state in developing new products and bringing them to market. It operates the Jeff Lawrence Innovation Fund that awards the grants.”

RNA Institute, Empire AI partner on neurodegenerative disease research

“State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. toured the University at Albany’s RNA Institute on Friday after announcing a new partnership between the RNA Institute and Empire AI, the state’s artificial intelligence supercomputer program.

The event was held on what is known as World RNA Day.”

Morcon Tissue leasing 100,000 square feet at former Essity plant

“Morcon Tissue lost out on its bid to buy personal-care giant Essity’s former plant in Greenwich, but it’s still moving in.

The family-owned maker of napkins, towels and other paper products is leasing about 100,000 square feet of the massive facility from the Fort Miller Group, which bought the Washington County property earlier this year.”

Albany, NY and Harrisburg PA named the fastest-growing cities near NYC

“Move over, Manhattan — the hottest job markets may be just a train ride (or tank of gas) away.

A new LinkedIn study has crowned America’s “Cities on the Rise” for jobs and talent — and some of the winners are closer to Times Square than Times Square is to affordable rent.

While Grand Rapids, Michigan, took the top spot thanks to its growing tech scene and insurance boom, the real eyebrow-raiser for New Yorkers is Albany — the Empire State’s own capital — landing at No. 4.”

RPI Launches Center for Smart Convergent Manufacturing Systems (CSCMS)

GlobalFoundries Expands Partnership with Apple to Advance Wireless Connectivity and Power Management, Reinforcing US Chip Manufacturing Leadership.

“GlobalFoundries has expanded its partnership with Apple to advance wireless connectivity and power management, reinforcing US chip manufacturing leadership. The agreement will accelerate investments at GF’s state-of-the-art facility in Malta, NY, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthen US-based innovation and production of AI-enabling technologies. GF will invest $16 billion to expand manufacturing and advanced packaging across its facilities in NY and VT.”
