SUMMARY:BASQUIAT X WARHOL An Exclusive Tour at The School / Jack Shainman Gallery
DESCRIPTION:A #GetCAPtivated Event\nJoin us on Thursday\, August 15\, from 3-5pm at The School /Jack Shainman Gallery in Kinderhook\, for an exclusive tour of Basquiat x Warhol\, an amazing examination of the compelling\, complex relationship between two master artists during the final years of their lives. This reexamination of the original 1985 exhibit has received raves from NYC press and will be open for ACE friends and partners for an exclusive weekday tour. \nThis event and tour are free; register below. \nSpecial thanks to our event sponsor and promotional partner Columbia Economic Development Corporation. and promotional partners The Collaborative\, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall\, co-mads\, and Overit Media. \nThe crux of the exhibition lies in the collaborative paintings and interconnected practices of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. The two artists shared collective creative space in New York City\, a city rife with possibility. The series of collaboration paintings\, executed from 1984 – 85\, sparked conversations between the two artists that are visible on each canvas – a visual language all their own that revitalized Warhol’s engagement with painting. \nThese collaborations were harshly criticized when the show opened. The poor reception marked the downfall of this pivotal relationship\, which dissipated soon after with Warhol’s death in 1987\, and Basquiat’s one year after. Thirty years later\, Jack Shainman Gallery is proud to present these previously misunderstood works as an in-depth study to mine Basquiat and Warhol’s creative geniuses. \nREGISTER TO ATTEND >>

SUMMARY:Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Road Trip
DESCRIPTION:The SBIR Road Tour is a national outreach effort connecting entrepreneurs working on advanced technologies to the country’s largest source of early stage funding – the SBIR/STTR programs. Also known as America’s Seed Fund\, the SBIR/STTR programs provide over $3 billion in funding to small businesses each year in a wide variety of technology areas. \nEach SBIR Road Tour stop\, hosted by a local organization\, will provide attendees with an opportunity to hear directly from the participating federal agency program managers that administer over 5\,000 new awards annually and to meet one-on-one with program decision makers. \nLocal innovation supporters in communities who have historically underutilized the opportunities provided through the SBIR/STTR programs have invited representatives of America’s Largest Seed Fund to engage the small advanced technology community\, including women and minority-owned research and development businesses. Every SBIR Road Tour stop represents a coveted opportunity to meet directly with Federal and State Program Managers who seed a wide spectrum of innovative ideas\, while learning about your state sponsored innovation support infrastructure. \nThe Albany Event will take place on Tuesday\, September 17. \nHosted by: NY Small Business Development Center in partnership with SUNY (State University of NY)\, Innovation Center at the University at Albany\, and Innovate 518 \nMORE INFORMATION >>  |  REGISTER >> \n  \n

SUMMARY:POSTPONED: End-to-End Quality: Better Ways to Create More Value (1-Day Workshop)
DESCRIPTION:**Please note this workshop has been postponed. Stay tuned for new December date**\nDoes Your Company Have a System for Seeing and Solving Quality Issues?\n\n Whether using A3s\, the 5 Whys\, DMAIC\, Value Stream Mapping\, or any other problem-solving tool\, having a System for seeing and solving quality issues can ensure the real problem is solved and protect precious resources from being deployed erroneously to solve a non-existent issue. \n\n Learn a System to Solve Unforeseen Quality Issues\, BEFORE They Happen\n\n Whether it starts on a company’s website\, in a tradeshow booth\, or even during an unconscious first glimpse of a logo\, customers’ perceptions of value begin well before the product or service is ever delivered – and then either build\, or diminish\, during every interaction thereafter. This is critical because 75% of customer defections are the result of poor-quality experiences somewhere between “needs recognition” and “post-delivery support.” Coupled with the fact that a 5% decrease in business typically results in -25% Operating Income\, organizations have more than enough incentive to improve their end-to-end quality. \n\n Lead by Brent Wahba\, Strategy\, Innovation & Transformation executive at Strategy Science\, Inc.\, Brent is a well-known expert in product development\, manufacturing operations\, supply chain management\, and quality control. He brings global managerial and technical expertise across several industries.\n Workshop Prices & Deadlines \n\n\n Early Bird: $1\,295 per person – closes on 9/6/2019 at 11:59 AM\nCEG/CEN Members:  $1\,295 per person – closes on 10/4/2019 at 11:59 AM\nRegular / Non-Member Pricing: $1\,495 per person – opens 9/7/2019 at 12:00 AM\, closes on 10/4/2019 11:59 PM\n\n  \n REGISTER \n  \nWe have known these facts and the related challenges for decades\, but unfortunately\, the methodologies for addressing them (Total Quality Management\, 6 Sigma\, Lean…) are often cumbersome\, require years of focus\, and even under the best circumstances\, do not frequently create quick or sustainable results. \nWhile there may be many company-specific reasons for this\, some of the most common root causes are: \n\n\n De-coupled and misaligned business processes\nCursory understanding of all stakeholder expectations\nLack of coordination between strategy and improvement activities\nBlanket\, organization-wide tool deployment\nToo much non-value-added complexity\n\n  \nThis workshop is designed to help participants of any organizational level or function address these shortcomings and significantly improve their own quality system performance by learning to: \n\nSee quality & value as outputs of an end-to-end delivery system\nMore deeply understand all stakeholder needs\nPrioritize improvement activities based on both strategy and bottlenecks\nPrevent problems instead of firefighting\n“Pull” simplified measurement systems and tools only when necessary\n\n
