SUMMARY:Innovate518 Presents: Startup Legal Protection - What you need to know!
DESCRIPTION:NEW COMPANIES NEED COUNSEL TOO \nIn fact\, new companies need counsel more than anyone. It’s the time in a company’s life when there’s the most to GAIN. And the most to LOSE. \nNot having a good startup attorney is a game of catch-up: chasing partners who are not properly incentivized or running away from creditors who might have access to your personal assets. \nHaving a good startup attorney is a recipe for success: creating lasting growth from day one and capitalizing on it. \nDo you own or are you interested in owning a startup? Join Ana Galeano Principal\, Galeano Law Firm and Josh Koss\, Lawyer at the The Towne Law Firm\, for this essential presentation on the mistakes others have made by not starting\, building\, and protecting their emerging company the right way from the outset. \nAfter 27 years as a corporate lawyer\, entrepreneur\, and business owner\, Ana Galeano offers practical advice rooted in both legal doctrine and real-world experience. Ana advises businesses throughout their lifecycle – from formation\, governance\, restructuring\, equity/asset acquisitions and dispositions\, private and government financing\, intellectual property protection\, and contractual matters. \nAna was the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Plug Power\, Inc.\, a fuel cell company. As General Counsel\, she oversaw Plug Power’s growth from 22 employees to over 500 employees\, 1 patent to over 100 patents\, Plug Power’s initial private funding (over $100M)\, its IPO ($93M)\, and two public follow?on offerings ($61M and $58M)\, international acquisitions ($45M and$10M)\, and the creation of strategic alliances with General Electric\, Honda\, and companies in Europe. \nAna was also a co?founder\, General Counsel\, and Corporate Secretary of H2Pump\, LLC\, a hydrogen recycling company. She was instrumental in growing the company from 2 employees to over 20\, securing over $12M in private and government financing and several patents\, and the delivery of the company’s first beta products. \nPrior to her roles as General Counsel\, Ana was an attorney at the Albany Law firm of Whiteman\, Osterman and Hanna where she helped to create Plug Power and Prime Care Physicians\, among other notable businesses. \nAna earned her J.D. degree at Brooklyn Law School where she was awarded a Deans Merit Scholarship and an International Business Law Fellowship. She has a B.A. degree in history\, minor in Russian language and literature\, and business adjunct degree at the State University of New York at Binghamton. \nJosh Koss focuses his practice on high-impact industries in the Capital Region including technology and real estate. He has been counsel on over $3B worth of transactions including M&A\, acquisitions\, dispositions\, and financings. He leverages his institutional and entrepreneurial experience to provide corporate and strategic advisory services to companies at every stage. Mr. Koss is excited to participate in the Capital Region’s accelerating growth. \n  \nREGISTER HERE>>\n  \n\n
