SUMMARY:Principles of Lean Enterprise Methodologies and Simulation
DESCRIPTION:Lean Manufacturing encompasses a set of continuous improvement techniques that\, when implemented\, shorten the time between customer order and shipment by eliminating or reducing non-value added activities. One effective approach to capturing the power of Lean is the CEG’s signature Lean Simulation. Working for “Buzz Electronics” (a mock manufacturing facility)\, participants assemble a product on a simulated factory floor\, incorporating the various principles of Lean along the way. By participating in a Lean Simulation\, you experience how to use half the manufacturing space and half the effort to produce products in half the time with fewer defects. \nSIMULATION OBJECTIVES\nThis full-day program combines a comprehensive classroom presentation with hands-on simulation of a production facility. In this workshop\, we introduce the basic concepts of Lean Manufacturing and demonstrate the tools and methodology necessary to implement “lean” on the shop floor.\nParticipants act as production workers\, applying the lean tools to their individual workspaces as well as across the entire product line. This learn-do technique over four “shifts” illustrates cause and effect relationships for the lean tools presented. Participants review methodology and lessons learned from previous shifts\, deciding what and how to implement while working with realistic constraints such as available resources\, cash flow and resistance to change. \nTOPICS COVERED\n• Traditional Manufacturing\n• Defining Lean\n• Eight Wastes\n• Standardized Work\n• Total Productive Maintenance\n• Visual Controls\n• Workplace Organization (5S)\n• Plant Layout\n• Quick Changeover\n• Point of Use Storage\n• Quality at the Source\n• Pull Systems\n• Cellular Flow Manufacturing\n• Batch Size Reduction\n• Takt Time\n• Work Balancing\n• Keys to Success \nBENEFITS OF THE LEAN MANUFACTURING OVERVIEW\nParticipants will learn how to identify the eight wastes in manufacturing and experience how productivity can be improved by applying standard work\, visual controls\, quick changeover\, batch size reduction\, point-of-use storage\, quality at the source\, pull systems and more. \nCost: $395 per person \nLimit of 16 people \nManufacturers Register Here \n

SUMMARY:Understanding Your Competitor’s Suppliers Before Selecting Your Own
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, October 5th at Noon EST\nFood for Thought Virtual Product Development Luncheon\nUnderstanding Your Competitor’s Suppliers Before Selecting Your Own \nMastering your supply chain is just as important\, if not more so\, than perfecting your product. Knowing where your competitors source their products from can be game-changing. For example\, if you can source the same bulk rate for raw material\, you have a chance to be competitive and break into the market. Learn how to use international trade data to answer interesting questions like “Which suppliers do my competitors use?\,” “Which country should I choose to manufacture my products?”\, and “How do I know if the supplier I’m looking at is honest and the right fit for me?” \nBe prepared for a live demo! Think about a company you’d like to see import data for\, and we’ll take a look during the Q&A portion.  \nAbout The Speaker \nDave Applegate is the CEO and Founder of ImportYeti and has 8 years of product development and importing experience at WrestlingMart\, the world’s largest specialty wrestling store. ImportYeti is a free tool that allows users to access the US import and trade database to find wholesale suppliers. \nClick the registration button below to reserve your seat at our free virtual event! Virtual meeting room information will be sent to attendees before the event.  \n  \nRegister for Food for Thought\n  \n

\nSIMULATION OBJECTIVES \nThis full-day program combines a comprehensive classroom presentation with hands-on simulation of a production facility. In this workshop\, we introduce the basic concepts of Lean Manufacturing and demonstrate the tools and methodology necessary to implement “lean” on the shop floor. \nParticipants act as production workers\, applying the lean tools to their individual workspaces as well as across the entire product line. This learn-do technique over four “shifts” illustrates cause and effect relationships for the lean tools presented. Participants review methodology and lessons learned from previous shifts\, deciding what and how to implement while working with realistic constraints such as available resources\, cash flow and resistance to change. \nTOPICS COVERED \n• Traditional Manufacturing\n• Defining Lean\n• Eight Wastes\n• Standardized Work\n• Total Productive Maintenance\n• Visual Controls\n• Workplace Organization (5S)\n• Plant Layout\n• Quick Changeover\n• Point of Use Storage\n• Quality at the Source\n• Pull Systems\n• Cellular Flow Manufacturing\n• Batch Size Reduction\n• Takt Time\n• Work Balancing\n• Keys to Success \nBENEFITS OF THE LEAN MANUFACTURING OVERVIEW \nParticipants will learn how to identify the eight wastes in manufacturing and experience how productivity can be improved by applying standard work\, visual controls\, quick changeover\, batch size reduction\, point-of-use storage\, quality at the source\, pull systems and more. \n  \n*Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. \n  \nRegister Today!\n  \n
