SUMMARY:Moving Manufacturing Production from Offshore to Domestic Webinar
DESCRIPTION:When a company decides to return production of an item from an international location to the United States\, there are many factors to take into account before manufacturing can begin. \nSome top level executives may think they can call to “Move production from China to the US!” and make the change quickly. In reality\, there is considerable engineering effort\, tooling and assembly expenses\, and time required to move production from a global producer to a U.S. production facility. \nThe primary focus is the need to redesign the product\, or at least significant aspects of the product. Moving production back to the U. S. highlights global differences in: \n\nProduct specifications\nLabor practices\nWork preferences\nRequirements for ergonomic assembly\nFactory practices\nWork ethic\nSupply chain logistics\n\nThe resulting impact to the product involves product cost\, methods of assembly\, regulatory agencies\, available materials and fabrication techniques\, different material and labor costs\, and different warranty and field reliability impact. \nJoin IMEC and Advanced Automations to learn the differences in producing domestic vs. international\, reasons for the differences\, and how to turn the return to domestic production into an opportunity for a better and more profitable product. \nCost: FREE!  A recording of the webinar will be available for download at the IMEC Coronavirus: Update page. \nPresenter: Errin Gnadinger\, Founder and Chief Technology Officer  |  Advanced Automations\, LLC \nContact Name: Emily Lee |  Contact Phone: 608-445-4905  |  Contact Email: elee@imec.org \n  \nREGISTER HERE>>\n  \nUnable to attend the live webinar?  A recording of the webinar will be available for download at the IMEC Coronavirus: Update page. \nPresented in partnership with: \n\n  \nPresented with support from: \n \n  \nREGISTER HERE>>\n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:TVCOG Presents Food for Thought # 3: Using Augmented Reality (AR) in Product Development\, featuring Jeff Zemsky.
DESCRIPTION:The Manufacturing Incubator at Tech Valley Center of Gravity presents Food for Thought: A Business & Product Development Virtual Luncheon Series. \nJeff Zemsky\, Senior Director of Product Management in the Windchill team at PTC will join us to discuss how Augmented Reality (AR) can provide methods to help throughout the product design process from design reviews to manufacturing operations through sales. \nPrior to joining PTC\, Jeff spent 16 years implementing and using PLM\, CAD and CAE at Industrial\, High Tech and Consumer Products companies including Plug Power and Garden Way. \nJeff attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Lehigh University. \nThe format will be an informal discussion\, with audience question and answer. \nAbout PTC: \n•We don’t just imagine a better world\, we help to create it. \n•Our technology helps industrial companies to create value for themselves\, their customers\, and the world. From hospital equipment with increased uptime and a spacesuit that is just as durable at half the weight\, to more sustainable buildings and more efficient manufacturing—each improvement our technology helps to create\, makes our world a better place. \n•Starting from our history of CAD with Pro/Engineer PTC has become a global leader through a combination of our Augmented Reality\, Industrial IoT\, PLM and CAD solutions\, PTC technology has helped our customers deliver better products and processes. \nFor more information about PTC and their technology\, visit www.ptc.com. \nThe Manufacturing Incubator at Tech Valley Center of Gravity provides expert coaching and incubation across industries\, advisory services and support for product-related startups. For members launching entrepreneurial ventures\, we offer resources for product development through the Prototyping Center\, with its advanced manufacturing equipment and flexible workspace.  \n\n \n\nREGISTER HERE>>\n
