DESCRIPTION:The Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) Northern Regional Manufacturing Center (NRMC) at Rensselaer\nLunch ‘n Learn – The Democratization of Smart Manufacturing and CESMII Roadmap\n  \nPlease RSVP Ann Seman (semana2@rpi.edu) by Monday (12/3) if you are able to attend. \n \nJohn Dyck – CESMII CEO \nJim Davis – UCLA Vice Provost\, Information Technology and Chief Academic Technology Officer\, CESMII PI \nJohn Dyck comes to CESMII from Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK)\, where he was the Global Director of Software Business Development.  In this role\, John helped drive the transformation of Rockwell Automation to a leadership position in software for manufacturing.  He was responsible for strategy development\, and the acquisition and development of capabilities needed to transform their software portfolio. John developed and began the execution of a multi-year software acquisition strategy to shape Rockwell Automation’s software portfolio.  He was a key leader in shaping their Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) strategy and was responsible for their global Strategic Alliance with Microsoft (Nasdaq “MSFT” @microsoft). \nJim Davis is UCLA’s Vice Provost\, Information Technology and Chief Academic Technology Officer\, an executive leadership role focused on UCLA’s academic research and education mission. Jim has broad oversight of campuswide planning\, governance\, and strategic investment of IT\, manages the Office of Information Technology\, and has responsibility for the Institute for Digital Research and Education. Included in his portfolio are UCLA’s digital presence\, cyberinfrastructure\, informatics\, policy\, mobility\, and the Office of the UCLA Chief Privacy Officer. Among the many initiatives Jim is involved with\, he currently co-leads a national initiative on Smart Manufacturing and U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. Jim is also a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UCLA\, where his research interests are in the areas of data analysis\, decision support\, and intelligent systems. \nAbout CESMII and the NRMC at Rensselaer\nRensselaer is the Northern Regional Manufacturing Center (NRMC) for the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII)\, headquartered in Los Angeles\, CA\, a public-private partnership with the Department of Energy (DoE) Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) and part of the Manufacturing USA Institutes.  CESMII is investing more than $140M nationwide over 5 years to help manufacturers accelerate the integration of smart manufacturing technologies into existing manufacturing processes and systems with a goal of increasing energy productivity through enhanced visibility and control\, while breaking down barriers to interoperability and security. \nCESMII’s is a national network of Regional Manufacturing Centers (RMCs) each focused on local relationships with opportunities for national impact in the areas of technology transfer and workforce development.
