$2B Anderon plan highlights Albany’s importance to IBM

“n upcoming $2 billion investment makes clear just how important the Albany NanoTech Complex is to tech giant IBM.

Backed by $1 billion in federal CHIPS Act incentives and another $1 billion from its own coffers, IBM recently said it would create Anderon, a stand-alone company expected to make wafers for outside customers involved in quantum computing, an emerging technology that draws on quantum mechanics to solve complex problems.”

Al Tech Specialty Steel site redevelopment hinges on two decisions

“Two key decisions will impact the pace of redevelopment of a state Superfund site in Colonie that officials have touted for its potential to attract a major employer.

One decision, expected this month, will determine which governmental agency will oversee the required environmental review of plans for the former Al Tech Specialty Steel site off Spring Street Road.”

Carver Cos. plans $7.9M warehouse for Aprojects

“The owner of the Port of Coeymans and an adjacent industrial park is planning to build a 75,000-square-foot warehouse for an existing tenant with a growing presence at the southern Albany County complex.

Plans for the $7.9 million logistics facility at the Coeymans Industrial Park were disclosed as part of an application for financial assistance from the Albany County Industrial Development Agency.”

NNME Northeast, Led by NY Creates, Launches to Strengthen Semiconductor Workforce Pathways Across the Greater Northeast

“NY Creates (the New York Center for Research, Economic Advancement, Technology, Engineering, and Science), in partnership with the State University of New York, industry leaders, workforce organizations, higher education institutions, and economic development partners from across the Greater Northeast, today announced the launch of NNME Northeast, one of the first Regional Nodes of the National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME).

Led by the Trump Administration’s U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) and implemented nationally by the SEMI Foundation as the NNME Hub Operator, NNME Northeast will help strengthen and scale workforce pathways into semiconductor and microelectronics careers across a rapidly growing region including New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia.”
