Chamber: With $4.6B chip plant, region can be selective

Economist Ev Ehrlich says what makes the upstate New York region stand out as a great place to locate a computer chip manufacturing plant isn’t just the potential work force that is being educated here.

“There’s smart people all around the world,” said Ehrlich, who is president of the ESC Co., a Washington, D.C.-based economics firm and a consultant to AMD.
