Biotech future put in focus

ALBANY — When Brian Zweig first suggested in 1999 the possibility of an alliance to encourage growth in the Capital Region's biotechnology sector, he was pleasantly surprised to find 3,000 people already employed in it locally.

The number has almost doubled since then. When the alliance, now called Bioconnex, celebrates its fifth anniversary on Monday, key players in the biotechnology and life-sciences industries will talk about what's ahead.
